[ 03 ]   Administering the Exam

Four ways to administer the exam.

Options on how to administer the closed-book certification exam, built for the varying needs of testing facilities.

01In-Person

Online Testing: In-Person

Registered proctors access the manual, PowerPoint, and P/T charts. Exams are purchased by PO or credit card with credits available immediately. Results appear as soon as the closed-book proctored exam is completed — candidates can print proof of certification on the spot, and the card is mailed the next business day.

02Remote

Online Testing: Remote

The same as in-person online testing, except the proctor meets the candidate over a secure conferencing platform. Requires a computer or laptop with a web camera and microphone (no tablets or phones).

03Third-Party

Online Testing: Third-Party

A registered proctor purchases online exam credits and assigns them to an approved third-party testing service that verifies identity and secure conditions, monitors the candidate and screen, records the session, and transfers results to the proctor portal. Requires a computer or laptop with web camera and microphone.

04Paper

Paper Testing

ESCO provides registered proctors affiliated with full-time HVACR courses, wholesalers, and manufacturers a proctor kit with all testing materials at no charge. Exams are paid for when submitted for grading via PO, check, or credit card.
